Medical Assistants Recognition Week is an annual event celebrated during the third full week in October. This year Medical Assistants Recognition Week takes place from October 18 to 22, 2021. The campaign is celebrated with the organization, American Association of Medical Assistants. The title of the 2021 Medical Assistants Recognition Week campaign is, “Not All Heroes Wear Capes!”. Below is a list of ways you can celebrate and honor medical assistants this year.
What is a Medical Assistant?
A medical assistant is defined as a medical professional who supports the work of physicians and other health professionals in outpatient and ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. They are responsible for completing clinical and admirative tasks such as, preparing a patient for an examination, taking a patient’s medical history, answering the telephone, or scheduling appointments. Medical assistants keep physicians’ offices running smoothly and efficiently.
Ways to Celebrate
Decorate your social media pages: On American Association of Medical Assistants website, aama-ntl.org, you can find downloadable AAMA created images to post on social media. Thank medical assistants: As small as saying a simple “thank you” and as big as writing an appreciation card or giving a present can be thoughtful easy ways to celebrate medical assistants. Make sure to tell all medical assistants you know or see how cherished they are.
Write a letter of recognition: Medical assistants work hard to take care of patients. Writing a letter to of recognition to the physician to inform them about the quality of care you received can be beneficial for medical assistants to receive bonuses and praise.
